What Going To A Christian College Has Taught Me

It's not as weird as people may think.

Going to a Christian College has taught me more in two semesters than I ever thought possible. I've learned so much about community, being on fire for Jesus, and truly what it means to live for Him.

It has taught me..

That having friends who are on fire for Jesus and who are constantly there to build you up is exactly what you need everyday. To build you up. To share a smile or a good cry. To buy you Starbucks. To study with you and to just be your friend.

That it is totally normal to stop what you're doing on a Wednesday morning at 10:10 and go to Campus Worship and do just that, worship. Worship with your classmates and listen to a good sermon to go along with it. Even though it's a requirement to go 8 times, I would recommend going every week. In the midst of a crazy week being a college student, Wednesday is my favorite day.

That it is also normal to lay in your Eno around campus and just chill with your friends or take a walk around campus and enjoy the scenery on a beautiful day (Which is sometimes rare in South Carolina..it's either 28 or 80).

What it truly means to live out your faith everyday. I have professors that pray before class and ask for prayer requests along with a devotion. Seriously, it's the best. I see students praying with each other in random places around campus and it inspires me daily.

That even though it is required that you take a Bible class, you will learn more about Jesus and what He did through so many people. Seriously, I have learned so much in one semester.

As this semester ends, I am so glad that the Lord lead me to Anderson University and that going to a Christian college isn't as "weird" as people think it is. It is truly one of the best decisions I have ever made and I can't wait for what's to come.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
