Sweater weather: This is winter. Besides the seasonal activities and weather, us girls wear sweaters. Yes, maybe because it's warm for the frigid air we experience outdoors, or maybe for the funky style we all have. Another reason that some girls wear big and baggy sweaters is that it's comforting at this time. Comfort meaning that you can eat all the fun and decorative foods during the holidays, but still looking cute and trendy.
All girls always say they are "dieting" or "on a diet," but do we ever follow through with these set goals. If you're one of the lucky ones, you most likely will be able to keep that commitment. However, it can be extremely difficult to stay away from the foods we desire every day. From our sweet tooth for chocolate to our savory and salty desires, we can't help ourselves sometimes. This is why sweater weather is crucial for this time of year.
What exactly does being healthy mean? For some, it can be simply eating healthy without the use of the word "diet." For others, it's a lot more challenging. This includes working out, eating healthy, and no cheating in any circumstance. I feel as if it's more than okay to have one cheat day because it's not good to deprive yourself of all the snacks and treats you once had every day because in the end you are only hurting yourself and you will also have a higher chance of pigging out.
Moderation and portion control are key elements in starting off your new healthy lifestyle. Eating foods in moderation will decrease your chances of snacking at night and reduce any cravings. Portion control is also a fantastic thing. By controlling your meal sizes, you will feel full faster knowing that the sizes are meant to keep you fit and skinny. Telling yourself you're full will help your cause on your road to health and wellness.
For girls, it's 80 percent food intake and 20 percent working out. Knowing these statistics is helpful, don't get me wrong, but it adds on extra stress. Burning calories at a fast speed increases one's appetite. Hence, you will want to eat more the more you work out.
Some people can go their entire lives without working out but still keep their good shape. I feel that is very difficult. I am striving for a "toned look." I really do enjoy working out and taking classes including kickboxing and cardio resistance training, however, I will in fact have a bigger appetite when I do go to the gym. Keeping in a daily routine of working out and eating the same few meals every day will reduce your need to acquire more snacks and meals.
Feeling good mentally and physically just by eating the right foods is a game changer. To me, dieting does not require starving yourself. Dieting and eating healthy is a way of life. It's a life style that I want to have for the rest of my life.
