Have you ever figured out why Disney charges so much for their admission?
Day after day I see people complaining about how expensive Disneyland or Walt Disney World is. Although it may seem like a lot of money to some people, it really isn’t that much money. Especially if you compare other theme parks prices. Easily, you can spend $80 for a single day admission ticket for Six Flags – Magic Mountain. Versus the prices at Disneyland which is about $95 for a one-day ticket, and you can find similar prices for the parks at Walt Disney World. Heck even SeaWorld is almost at that price range for a single day admission depending on the day. Universal basically cost way more than a Disney park ticket. Considering Universal Orlando only has two parks, a park hopper is a whopping $155 + tax, and then there’s Walt Disney World park hopper pass for all four parks is the same price. So really, who’s really more expensive in terms of ticket prices?
What you really get when you pay for that one-day pass at any Disney park is the endless amount of Cast Members that want to make your vacation as magical as possible. That includes making magical moments in the parks, on the resort property or anywhere Cast Members are located at. You pay for the service, the experience, the maintenance of rides and the love that most theme parks don’t bring to you. Disney brings a different kind of magic out, and no I’m not talking about magic spells. I’m talking about the magic the whole family feels, the relief you get as soon as you step inside the parks, the breath you take knowing that you are in a safe place with family and friends. You pay for the shows they provide all day and night, including parades, fire work shows, boat shows, night time shows and the constant entertainment throughout all the Disney parks.
Disney has to deal with the thousands of guests they get each day, and they try to deal with them as personal as possible. A family may have lost luggage, or a Disney merchandise item, and if Disney knows, they sometimes help in the most personal way possible. They give them a little piece of magic, whether it’s in the form as a gift card to buy clothes to replace the missing luggage, or obtain another said Disney merchandise and have Mickey pay for it, so the guest doesn’t have to pay twice for the same product. You never know what kind of magic you’re actually helping become reality when you buy your park tickets. Disney does their best to make sure every guest is happy and satisfied with their stay and vacation experience with them. There is a lot of money involved with making some of this “magic.” It’s not that easy for a company to help pay for lost luggage, replace merchandise, refund tickets, make magical moments for special families, or just even have the meal be on the house 24/7. Most places do not compensate the guests due to their own mistakes, the weather or things of their control.
Making magic 24/7 for thousands and millions of guests each year is expensive. Running entertainment nearly 24 hours a day in every Disney Park is not cheap. Especially the parades, the fireworks and night time shows. You’re not just paying for someone to hand you a dole whip, you’re paying for the customer service you don’t receive anywhere else. You pay for that Disney Standard, you pay for someone to get a magic moment, and you pay for a clean, friendly, and magical amusement park.
You pay for that Disney Experience, which is why people keep coming back year after year, is for the experience and customer service they can’t get nowhere else.
