What's On My Playlist

A playlist says a lot about a person and mine is more random than anything.

What's On My Playlist

I have never been much of a music listener, which is odd because I am obsessed with dancing. I guess I have always just chosen to have the TV on in the background whenever I was doing something instead of music. No, with moving abroad I don’t have the option of always having the TV in the background so I have actually began listening to music more, which means I dance around my house while I cook, clean, and do work for my school. I have thus built a very random playlist that works amazingly for me and the moods I go through on a daily basis as a Peace Corps Volunteer. As a volunteer I battle constant anxiety, homesickness, random emotions, extreme highs and the lowest of lows, so I have built a play list that allows me to listen to music that fits each mood.

I have everything from Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Walk the Moon, Bruno Mars and so much more. When I have a bad day and I feel like crying I come home and listen to “Wake Me Up” by Avicii in order to cheer myself up, I slowly will begin to dance around my room to heighten my mood. When I am feeling anxious I will listen to “Wonderland” by Taylor Swift or “This Town” by Nial Horan because both of these songs seem to calm me down. When I am homesick I listen to anything by Maren Morris because it reminds me of driving around town at home and dancing to her music. When I am extremely happy I will listen to “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake. These songs have helped me the past four months getting me through teaching my first term here at my school.

I like to listen to Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Kelsea Ballerini on repeat. Their music as easily become some of my favorites and has helped me cook many of dinners. I especially enjoy listening to “Holy Ground”,” Shape of You”, and “Dibs”. I have been reintroduced to Cute is What We Aim for a band I used to listen to in middle school. A friend of mine just also introduced me to an indie band called Birdtalker. This band is absolutely incredible, beautiful vocals and instruments I don’t know how I went so long without them in my life.

I have always had really random taste in music because I get bored very easily so I have to keep myself on my toes, therefore I keep my playlist stalked with, country, indie, pop, hip hop, and alternative. I like to listen to anything with beautiful lyrics, a good beat, and something I can dance to, because in this world we need music that will cheer us up and keep us calm.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
