November has officially started. Homework and tests are now piling up as the semester draws to a close. With everything happening so soon, it seems as if Thanksgiving is forgotten. After all, it is one day out of countless others where you have mountains of things to get done and what feels like limited time to do so.
Thanksgiving is a day in which we should be thankful for what we have in life. Really we should be thankful everyday. Thankful for being able to live to see another day. Even if times are hard, you still should be able to find one thing to be grateful for.
Here are two quotes that really sum up the idea of being thankful and how you can be thankful despite being presented with tough situations.
Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough. -Oprah Winfrey
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.It turns what we have into enough, and more.It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast,a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.Gratitude makes sense of your past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."– Melody Beattie
So what are you thankful for right now?
Things do not always go as planned. Whether that means you did not do well on a test or you are struggling to find your true friend group. Despite these troubles, the lessons that come from them are things to be thankful for. From the bad test grades, you could gain new motivation to find ways that will lead to your success. From continuing to meet people to find your ideal friends, you learn how to put yourself out there and make the leap in talking to people you otherwise would not.
I know I am thankful to be here at Mississippi State University, a place that I love no matter what. This is a place where I have met so many people both very similar and very different from myself. This is a place where I enjoy learning my true interests and figuring out what my next step in life is.
But simply, this is a place I am thankful to have the opportunity to go to.
