Happy New Year everyone! It's officially 2018! Let's see what the year has in store for us. I'm sure we have all tried to make "New Year Resolutions" at least once in our lifetimes. Whether we achieve them is up to us. I know it is not just me but they are so hard to keep! It is so hard to break some of our habits especially if we have been doing them for so long and are content with them. So instead of New Year Resolutions, I've decided to come up with hopes for the New Year. Although I stuck with some of my resolutions for this year, I didn't stick to them all. Maybe my hopes will be easier to keep up with because compared to resolutions, I won't feel as bad if I do not stick to them. There are just hopes! Feel free to join me in my trial of hopes for this year if resolutions scare you.

Here are some of my hopes for 2018!

Procrastinate less!

See how I didn't say stop procrastinating entirely? The damage has been done. I can't ever picture myself not procrastinating but can I picture myself doing it less? Yes, I can. I am trying to make these hopes realistic so procrastinating less is looking more promising than to quit procrastinating completely. If I procrastinated much less than I do now, I would probably be more successful in some aspects of my life which could not hurt at all! For instance, I would be on time to things much more often than I am now.

Before college, I was also reading books for my enjoyment but during college I don't find myself doing that as much anymore. I'm always reading textbooks or excerpts from novels for my classes. Not to say none of them are enjoyable but I miss picking books that I personally am interested in and reading them on my own time. I'm glad that I've been able to do this during winter break and I hope to continue doing this in the new year.

Become more active

I actually had a New Years Resolution this year of starting to go to the gym and that didn't last too long. You are not only active by going to the gym, there are many other to stay active and I hope to do that in the new year. I didn't realize how much I sit around daily until my watch told me that I needed to stand up because I wasn't getting enough steps in lol. You know you've reached a new low when you don't even want to stand up when your watch tells you to. Technology nowadays!

Travel somewhere new

Okay this is a prime example of what you shouldn't do when you're putting your luggage in the overhead. If it can't fit, don't force it in! But anyways, I would love to travel again this year. One of my highlights of last year was when I traveled to Cancún. It was my first time there and I really enjoyed my trip. I definitely recommend going there if you haven't. I love to travel in general and to get away for a bit. Nothing beats seeing a different part of the world!

Well there you have it. These are my hopes for 2018. Wish me luck!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
