I also asked some people to describe what comfort food meant to them. Here are some of the answers I received:

"Comfort foods are a lot of the foods I ate when I was 13"

"Comfort foods are foods that make you feel at home."

"Comfort foods make me think of a nice home cooked meal."

"Comfort food is food I eat when I need comforting."

"Comfort food is food you want to eat when you have nothing else to do."

We all have different comfort foods for many different reasons. Some are just your favorite foods and some may be the food you ate when you were little.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
