Welcome To The Sunday of Summer: August

You know that feeling you get every Sunday about mid-afternoon when you realize the next day is Monday and you have to go back to school, or your job, and actually be productive with your ! life? Yea? Well, welcome to the Sunday of Summer, better known as August.

Truth be told, August is basically a month-long Sunday of the ending of Summer. Its a month where we try to squeeze in everything we wanted to do over the summer, and are constantly reminded of going back to school. An entire month of anxiety of returning to responsibilities. The month of August is full of emotions; such as, dread, regret and excitement.

The dread of returning to studying, responsibilities and stress. Back to sitting in the library on beautiful days instead of being outside enjoying the clear skies and sunshine. Care-free and stress-free? Not anymore, you have 3 essays due at the end of Syllabus Week.

The regret of everything you didn't get to over the summer that you had high intentions of doing. Remember when you said you wanted to hike that mountain or go to a Red Sox game? Forget about it, you have class until 2 then work until 9.

The excitement of being reunited with your friends. It's a long three months without your closest friends around, and it might possibly be the only good thing about this long, drawn-out Sunday we call August.

Don't worry though, come September that feeling of anxiety and worry will be gone. But if August is our Sunday, then that means September is our Monday. And I don't do Mondays, so as Green Day once said, "wake me up when September ends".

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
