Baseball season is almost to an end, football season is halfway done, and soccer is just about complete too. That means that winter sports are here, and my favorite would be wrestling! I am excited to say that October 10th was the official first day of the NCAA wrestling season! With college wrestling underway, that also means that high school wrestling will begin their season shortly too.
Never in a million years would I have ever thought that one of my favorite sports would be wrestling. I remember in 7th and 8th grade I dreaded the fact that we had to cheer at wrestling matches. To me, that was the most boring thing to cheer for! Fast forward to my sophomore year of high school, I got to be part of my high school wrestling team and video tape all of the matches. At first I was still a little unsure about the sport and whether or not I would like traveling with the team. By the end of the season, I had more knowledge on the sport and actually thought, "This isn't as bad as I thought it would be." So with that in mind, I was excited for the start of the next wrestling season! By the time junior year of high school came around, I was so excited for wrestling season to begin. I had found myself going to tournaments that I did not have to travel with the team to just because I liked the sport so much.
Next up, senior year. By the time senior year rolled around, I had a great passion for the sport of wrestling. Towards the end of the season my senior year, it became hard to think that my high school wrestling days were almost over. I couldn't have asked for a better team to be with for 3 years, they became a second family to me! Without them, I would not have such a passion for wrestling.
I am excited to see what this year holds for college wrestling as well as the high school wrestling teams! So, hello wrestling season, and welcome back! You were greatly missed by many fans all over the place! Wrestling is a sport with so much excitement and individual competition. November to March are the best months of the year! Who needs March Madness when you can have March Matness?!
