In honor of A-Trak's show at 45 East in Portland, Oregon this past Saturday, "This Week's 5 Best Songs" is dedicated to his Fool’s Gold Records signees. The master disc jockey founded Fool’s Gold Records back in 2007 along with Nick Catchdubs. The label has since been home to many musical talents, and I have taken the liberty of selecting my personal favorite songs by some of my favorites featured on the Fool’s Gold roster. Now, without further ado, I present them to you here. So don’t be a fool, and start your February off with these jams.
1. Radioactive // Anna Lunoe
Anna Lunoe hails from Sydney, Austrailia but now resides in Los Angeles, California where hosts a weekly radio show through Apple Music called Anna Lunoe Presents: HYPERHOUSE. In 2016, she made history as the very first female solo artist to perform at the main stage of the Electric Daisy Carnival festival (badass, right?). Now here’s her single, “Radioactive” that’ll get you pumped for the week.

2. Attak // Danny Brown with Rustie
Ever since he was in kindergarten, Danny Brown has wanted to be a rapper. He’s kept a unique style and sound while working along with artists such as Purity Ring, Childish Gambino, and K.Flay. Well here’s to you, Danny Brown, you made it. “Attak” features Rustie’s stellar production that showcases Danny Brown’s one-of-a-kind flow.

3. Erase Me // Kid Cudi ft. Kanye West
Kid Cudi has come a long ways from Ohio, releasing six albums since 2009. His sound has that alternative hip hop vibe with influences coming from A Tribe Called Quest. He’s had collaborations with artists such as Skylar Grey and Common. “Erase Me” is one of Kid Cudi’s many collaborations with Kanye West, telling the story of a break up with this funky beat as the backdrop.

4. Mosh Pit // Flosstradamus
Flosstradamus started out as a DJ duo from Chicago, but Josh Young and Curt Cameruci have recently decided to pursue solo careers, with Curt keeping the Flosstradamus name. The Floss sound has been typically trap-heavy with a dash of hip hop for some added flare. I know these two to are going to kill it individually, but the duo will always have a special place in my heart. Just like their classic hit "Mosh Pit" will.

5. Only One // A-Trak with Ookay
Originally from Canada, A-Trak has made not only a name for himself, but a record label based in Brooklyn, New York too. He has demonstrated his ability to work a turn table, and produce a variety of beats. He even won a Grammy for his song “Barbra Streisand” under the duo Duck Sauce with Armand Van Helden. Here, I give you his collaboration track with Ookay, “Only One” that’s guaranteed to make you bust a move.
