The zodiac is a collection of human figures, mythical creatures, and objects including the scales. The word zodiac is derived from greek, and means circle of figures or living things. Babylonian astronomers divided the band of the zodiac into 12 equal sections or “signs.” They recorded how the sun, the moon, and the planets moved through the signs for the purpose of astrology, which was the earliest study of the heavens. The moon and sun were considered to be planets.

The earliest astrologers thought that the Earth was the the center of the universe, and all the other heavenly bodies revolved around it. It was around this time that astrologers began casting horoscopes based on the position of the sun, the moon, and the planets in the zodiac. Each of the 12 signs represents a period of 28-31 days of the year.

Your birth date falls within one of these periods and determines which astrological sign is yours. Just like each of us, each of the signs is different and holds clues to who we are, what we like and dislike, and to whom and what we are attracted.

Each week, I will have at least one new zodiac sign article, so follow my author page and look out for your sign each week!!

Polarity? Each sign has a “polarity” or a opposite. The two signs convey opposite characteristics.

Masculine or Feminine? The 12 signs are divided by masculine (which are considered to be strong through action) and the feminine (which are considered to be strong through thought)

Qualities? The signs are divided into three groups which signify their relationship within the world. The three qualities of these groups are:

Cardinal: these signs are creators.

Fixed: these signs are finishers

Mutable: these signs are adaptable.

“I Feel Cancer” June 21- July 22

You have a forceful personality and love to push the envelope, yet are quite cautious. Cancerians are not easy to understand. One day you are kind and patient. The next day you are cranky, indifferent and only interested in yourself. You embody myriad contradictions

You have a difficult time trusting others and tend to hide your deepest feelings and thoughts; therefore, others do not know that you are very sensitive.

Cancers need constant love and affection, and you thrive off of encouragement. When they care about someone or something, you care with incredible loyalty and depth. You have a large impact on others and are great at making others feel important and understood. You are perceptive in your intuitions and can sense the slightest change in others. You are an observer with an eye for details.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
