The Zodiac

The Zodiac is a Collection of human figures, mythical creatures, and objects including the scales. The word zodiac is derived from greek and means circle of figures or living things. Babylonian astronomers divided the band of the zodiac into 12 equal sections or “signs” they recorded how the sun, the moon, and the planets moved through the signs for the purpose of astrology, which was the earliest study of the heavens, the moon and sun were considered to be planets.

The earliest Astrologers thought that the Earth was the-the center of the Universe and all the other heavenly bodies revolved around it. It was around this time that Astrologers began casting horoscopes based on the position of the sun, the moon, and the planets in the Zodiac. Each of the 12 signs represents a period of 28-31 days of the year.

“Your” birth date falls within one of these periods and determines which astrological sign is yours. Just like each of us, each of the signs is different and holds clues to who we are, what we like and dislike, and to whom and what we are attracted. Each week I will have at least one new Zodiac sign article so look for your sign each week!!

Polarity? Each sign has a “polarity” or an opposite. The two signs convey opposite characteristics.

Masculine or Feminine? The 12 signs are divided by Masculine: which are considered to be strong through action, and the Feminine: which are considered to be strong through thought.

Qualities? The signs are divided into three groups which signify their relationship within the world. The three qualities of these groups are Cardinal, these signs are creators. Fixed, These signs are finishers. Lastly Mutable, these signs are adaptable.

“I am Aries” March 21- April 19

You are optimistic and open to change and new experiences. The first sign of the Zodiac, Aries can be very self-oriented, tend to have strong personalities, and gravitate to the center of where the action is. Natural born leaders, Aries often feel as if they are headed for success.

For an Aries, the chase is often more exciting than the end result. Thriving on the challenge, you believe you can do anything. Sometimes you feel insecure, but others rarely see that side of you. Sometimes you lack tact; However, your abruptness is rarely on purpose. Blame it on your impulsive nature.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
