This week has been nothing short of amazing. The experiences we had here in Mississippi are something we never could have gotten anywhere else. I’m not gonna lie...leading up to the trip, I was extremely nervous. I even considered backing out and not going at all. As soon as we got on the bus Saturday morning, I felt leaps and bounds better. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and made first time WMT-goers like me feel secure.

We all quickly bonded as a team and half way through the second day, I already had made new friendships. Between a trip to New Orleans, completely replacing a roof, and hanging with the kids at the Boys and Girls Club we had a jam packed week. It was tiring, and amazing, and God moved through all of it. He held off the rain when we needed to finish the second half of the roof and gave us the right words to say to encourage each other daily.

The biggest blessing I got out of this week is the relationships that were formed. Leading into this past fall semester, I was ready to graduate. I wanted to be done with my time in college and move on. This week changed that for me. It proved to me just how good God is and how lucky I am to be surrounded by the people I have at school.

Returning to ISU this semester I feel refreshed and ready to make the most of my last year and a half. I could not be more grateful that I decided to come on this trip and have to thank God for placing me on the most perfect team of people in a time I needed them most.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
