This week has been nothing short of amazing. The experiences we had here in Mississippi are something we never could have gotten anywhere else. I’m not gonna lie...leading up to the trip, I was extremely nervous. I even considered backing out and not going at all. As soon as we got on the bus Saturday morning, I felt leaps and bounds better. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and made first time WMT-goers like me feel secure.Â
We all quickly bonded as a team and half way through the second day, I already had made new friendships. Between a trip to New Orleans, completely replacing a roof, and hanging with the kids at the Boys and Girls Club we had a jam packed week. It was tiring, and amazing, and God moved through all of it. He held off the rain when we needed to finish the second half of the roof and gave us the right words to say to encourage each other daily.Â
The biggest blessing I got out of this week is the relationships that were formed. Leading into this past fall semester, I was ready to graduate. I wanted to be done with my time in college and move on. This week changed that for me. It proved to me just how good God is and how lucky I am to be surrounded by the people I have at school.Â
Returning to ISU this semester I feel refreshed and ready to make the most of my last year and a half. I could not be more grateful that I decided to come on this trip and have to thank God for placing me on the most perfect team of people in a time I needed them most.Â
