The excitement of move-in day has moved away slowly, and we're finally getting into the swing of the college life. The sequence of events is astounding, best described by one of the most iconic television shows of the 1990s, "Friends."

Those first few days of trying to make friends.

You're going out and being social, but you still haven't found your group in those first few days. You just want to convince everyone that you're so cool.

When you sit in your first 300-person lecture in the front row and try to act interested so the professor likes you.

It's tough to differentiate yourself in those first few days of classes, so you try everything you can. You sit in the front, you nod knowingly when the professor looks at you, and you take notes on your laptop. You're all set, now you're just trying to be memorable.

When the professor immediately goes into the course material on FDOC.

Wait, what happened to syllabus week? We have to read the syllabus ourselves before the first day of classes even happens? I was not prepared for this.

By the way, you finally find that amazing friend group.

It only took about a week, but it felt like an eternity. However, you finally found your people who you want to spend all your time with, and there's never a shortage of laughs. It's even better that some of your new best friends live right down the hall from you. Endless hang-out nights!

Oh, did I mention all the walking?

No, probably not, because nobody warns you about how sweaty you'll be all the time. Why does nobody talk about the back sweat? Seriously, walking an average of six miles a day with a backpack is intense, and it's one of the rarest things that comes up in conversation. Don't worry, everyone here is constantly exhausted from walking, you're not alone.

When you're assigned your first big essay and your life feels like it's ending.

So you're settled in, you have your friends, your classes seem interesting, and boom. You have an essay due in five days. Not to mention you were pretty much already drowning in homework. Time to lock yourself in the library and pull your first all-nighter!

But you know that no matter what, you adore your school and you're where you're meant to be.

There's no better feeling than walking to class in the morning with leaves beginning to fall and a slight breeze in the air. Every day, I find myself appreciating the beauty of the campus, and I'm so grateful that I get to be here. I love college, and I can't imagine myself in a better place.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
