Just about every week, you'll see an article bashing how a woman dresses. If a woman wears XL shirts and Nike shorts, she's "unprofessional." If a woman wears pajamas to class, she's setting herself up to fail.
It's time that we stop caring what other people are wearing and focus on ourselves and ourselves only.
Articles about how other women are dressed should've never come into play, to begin with. Just because a girl wants to be comfy in her 5-hour lecture course and decides to wear pajamas instead of a blouse and jeans does not mean she's setting herself up for failure when it comes to jobs and future employment.
Most women know that there's a fine line between wearing "comfy" clothes for some events (like a 5-hour lecture) and wearing a dress, for example, at professional events.
What another person wears to school shouldn't matter to you. School isn't a fashion show. Throwing on jeans and a blouse instead of leggings and a sweatshirt does not affect your learning at the end of the day. Whether you were "dressed up" or "dressed down", you still learned all about mitosis and cell division in the same way.
You're under no obligation to be dressed up, whether that be at the gym, high school, or college.
If you want to wear a suit with some nice shoes and put extra effort into your outfit every day, do it.
But if you just want to throw on an old shirt and shorts or leggings just to go sit in your lecture class, you can do that, too.
Most people know what to wear and when to wear it, meaning that they probably won't go to a huge job interview with shorts and flip flops on. If I wore leggings every time I went to class, it would not change the fact that I've gotten on the Dean's List twice for having over a 3.5 GPA. Wearing shorts and an old T-shirt or leggings or pajamas, or whatever the case may be, doesn't mean I don't care about my education.
It doesn't mean I don't care about the class I'm attending because if I didn't care, would I be showing up anyway? My professor(s) won't give me a 0 for a participation grade because of what I'm wearing.
Although I've never personally worn pajamas or sweatpants or an old shirt with Nike shorts, I can fully tell you that when I'm in class or when I'm walking to class, the last thing I think about is what someone is wearing, frankly because I don't care and I shouldn't and neither should you. Worry about your education, not someone else's.
You didn't pay thousands of dollars for your tuition to critique what someone is wearing when they go to class or while they're sitting in class.
