When we were young everything was simpler.
Nothing too complicated that we couldn't handle.
Then when times got tough,
We still had each other.
Your eyes use to shine brightly with the hope of the sun,
Then as time went on that hope dimmed.
We tried to find hope but when that hope left,
We stilled had each other.
Your smile use to stretch wide creasing your eyes,
And as the years passed, that same smile faded.
Our joyless lips staying in a constant line.
We still had each other.
Your strength could carry the world,
We grew weaker, barely treading water.
However, we never went under.
Because we will always have each other.
