Recently, I've noticed how envious our world can be. There has been a heavy emphasis on entitlement being the attribution to success and a lack of empathy. This needs to stop.

Why be envious and mean when you can be humble and kind?

Not as often do we see people who are genuinely happy for others succeeding in life. They are envious. Why? If you see a friend doing great in life, achieving hopes and dreams, why should you feel the need to speak ill of them?

Chances are, they didn't succeed without struggle. They may look like they have it all together and everything may seem picture perfect, but I can assure you that they did NOT have their successes handed to them on a silver platter. They struggled, failed many times, lost hope, but still managed to keep trying.

They know what it's like to suffer through hard times, which makes them appreciate their successes that much more. They are humble. You don't see them boasting about their importance in society. Gratitude exudes from them and their struggles remind them that hard work truly pays off. With this in mind, we should be supportive for everyone's successes in life. Just because you're in the middle of a struggle, doesn't mean you'll be in an everlasting rut.

You will find your silver lining, I promise you that. If anything, seeing others succeed should refuel your drive to succeed.

Always stay humble and kind.

We tend to forget that people have more going on than just what meets the eye. Just because everything looks great on the exterior doesn't mean the interior is as strong as steel. Never assume someone's wellbeing.

Always aim to be kind to others. We never know how much one act of kindness can truly turn someone's day and life around. Sure, everyone has bad days. Anger may be displaced your way, it happens. It's how you react and respond to that displacement of anger that matters. You have control of that situation. If you remain kind and communicate that you understand the person may not be in the best mood, then they may reevaluate their mood and try and change things.

We can all be humble and kind. It's all about the approach.

The decision is yours.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
