2014, 271.

2015, 333.

2016, 383.

2017, 346.

These are the number of Mass shootings every year. Every year it just seems to grow. While many will blame the guns, and I'm not going with either side as that's not what it is about, but the entity of the source of which being the only one we can blame is ourselves.

We are now faced with a world where these monsters roam. Not knowing when they will strike again. I fear, as well as many others, for my safety every single day.

Every single day.

A shooting can happen at any moment, anywhere. Going to the grocery store? It can happen. Going to a movie? It can happen. It happens in our schools to our own children for crying out loud.

We are trapped in a world full of suspension. They aren't as easily predictable as the weather. What turned us so dark? With each passing year, the numbers don't seem to drop. They sit there, haunting us. Making us wonder if we will ever live in a world that is entirely safe from harm.

Then again, perfect worlds don't exist, right?

But why can't we fight to make it one? At tough of times like these we must rise together. Not dwindle apart. We have to find ourselves and give each other the support we need.

If we show them we are frightened, that won't stop them from striking again. We have to stand up and we have to fight for our safety. But most importantly we have to love those that around us.

While these shootings happen at any moment and anytime, they can happen to anyone. These are the moments that make us hug our parents a little closer tonight. When we tuck our kids into bed just a little tighter. Where we don't want to let go of our loved ones, in fear of what may happen if you do.

While the world may seem to fall apart we must continue to rise and build it back together. We can not fall behind to their torturous ways. Love conquers all, right?

We must stand together and send our love to those who need it. They need all the strength they can get in order to show those monsters that they have not won. They will never win.

We must keep these loved ones in our prayers and in our thoughts. We may not always be able to lend a helping hand, but we can always give our love as best we can. For love is the only thing that can mend the broken hearts.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by the mass shootings. My heart is with you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
