Why You Shouldn't Be "So Over Feminists"
The Huffington Post

By now I’m sure most of you have read the trending Odyssey article called “I Am A Female And I’m So Over Feminists.” If you haven't, it's a woman telling other women to essentially calm down and accept that men are stronger and that, eventually, the glass ceiling won't exist. If we’re being frank here, it's a load of bull (that’s a direct quote from the said article).

Anyway, I read the article and picked out a few points that she made and I want to share them with you. Oh and I’m offering counterpoints as well.

“First of all, this is the 21st century. Women have never been more respected. Women have more rights in the United States than anywhere else in the world.”

Well, how did we get those rights? Feminists!
Also, we still don't have equal rights. That's the kicker. Men are still favored.

“Whatever happened to chivalry? Why is it so ‘old fashioned’ to allow a man to do the dirty work or pay for meals? Feminists claim this is a sign of disrespect…”

Feminism allows men and women to be chivalrous. A guy is allowed to offer his help but a woman is also allowed to decline if she so feels.

“There is a distinct divide between both the mental and physical makeup of a male and female body. There is a reason for this. We are not equals. The male body is made of more muscle mass, and the woman has a more efficient brain. The male body is meant to endure more physically while the female is more delicate.”

Okay…explain childbirth. Besides I’m a woman and I know for a fact that I can beat up some of the men out there.

“One of the young ladies in the room complained about how the NFL does not allow female athletes. I mean, really? Can you imagine being tackled by a 220-pound linebacker? Of course not. Our bodies are different. It’s not “inequality,” it’s just science.”

You’re obviously missing the point of feminism. It’s an idea that allows everyone to do what they want without being judged. Just because I’d die playing tackle football doesn't mean I get to be told that I can’t play. There are some 220-pound girls out there who could take on your linebacker.

“We are still climbing the charts in 2016. Though there is still considered to be a glass ceiling for the working female, it’s being shattered by the perseverance and strong mentality of women everywhere.”

This is exactly why feminism is a good thing!

“Men and women are meant to complement one another—not to be equal or to over-power. The genders are meant to balance each other out. There’s nothing wrong with it.”

Excuse me? Just because someone has a penis does not mean I’m here to balance him out. We’re all people and we all deserve to be allowed to do what we want!

“However, I don’t believe that being a female entitles me to put down men and claim to be the 'dominant' gender. There is no “dominant” gender. There’s just men and women. Women and men. We coincide with each other, that’s that. Time to embrace it.”

Again, missing the point.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
