After high school, it is expected that you go off to college or the military and make something of yourself. Majority of us do that and others out of our generation decide to work instead of going back to school. However, I believe that the generations that raised us totally believe that school or the military is the best thing to do. Before actually making my way to college I got into HU also known as Howard University. Now I know that people are probably wondering why I didn't attend that school, but if you look at the tuition to attend the choice I made to not attend becomes understandable. At the time when everyone else was on their way to school I stayed home and my mother's words at the time were "you either go to college or you're going to the military." If you run into anyone that actually knows me personally they'll tell you flat out that I am not the run a marathon type and more of the eat an entire pack of Oreos person.
By the time we make it to college and get to our sophomore year something happens in the minds of everyone who knew us beforehand, and for some odd reason they believe we have it all together. The issue with that is that at the age of 19 maybe 21 there is no way we have it all figured out; we are only in the beginning stages of trying to figure out if college is even for us. I, being 21 years old, cannot see how anyone of the older generations could believe that we have life figured out. Majority of us live on campus in residence halls and eat at the cafe on campus. We cannot make it to an 8 a.m. class by 8 a.m. (or at least I cannot), naps are our best friends and when our parents think we are being productive we're probably sitting in the bed watching a new series of some show on Netflix.
So here is the disclaimer, I do not have it all figured out and my peers might not either, but at least we are trying. Homework gets done and our GPA sits somewhere above a 2.0 because we have not yet had to pack up our things and move home due to it. So, in a sense we have it as together as it will be right now. There may have been quite a few set backs but as long as we keep the graduation date in our view I believe we're making it just fine.
