This past week has shown me how much we all need to be a kid sometimes. It does not matter if we are in our teens or in our 50s, once in a while it can be beneficial to be a child sometimes. No I do not mean that you can throw a tantrum whenever something does not go your way or pout because someone hurt your feelings. I mean you can geek out over your favorite movie or have a day where all you do is watch cartoons. You can just lay around in your pajamas having absolutely no care in the world and gossiping with your best friend.
Everyone has a day where they feel every single person is out to get them. I know I have had a day where nothing went my way and all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball in my bed. I just needed my mom to tell me everything was going to be OK even if it felt like the world was against me. Who cares if you look like a potato when you cry? Let it all out. No one should judge you for feeling something.
If you want to call your best friend at 1 a.m. to tell her all about a cute guy in your class, do it. If you want to go to that new Disney movie that premiered, do it. If you want to buy a tub of ice cream and eat it, do it. Play on that swing set in the park? Do it. As Shia LaBeouf would say, "Just do it!" Your feelings and dreams should not become any less important because you turned a certain age. It is healthy to have big dreams and strive for something you would not normally imagine. Dream of those giant castles and beautiful princes. Dream of becoming a rock star who sells out stadiums in seconds.
Being a kid is not a bad thing. Kids think outside of the box, and they try things parents tell them not to because they are curious. They test limits. So go and be a kid. Go live your dream. Your age does not define your imagination or your emotions. You can be extraordinary.
