5 Ways To Stay Focused While Studying

Don't stress, you can do it.

As finals come near, it can become a stressful time in the semester. In my case as an EWM major, I have a lot of papers and projects due along with finals after the class is over. Finding ways to find time and be able to study can be hard with all of the everyday distractions we encounter. Regardless of what major you are and how much work you have ahead of yourself, here are some ways you can make it easier on yourself to find time and motivation for these next couple of weeks.

Delete your most used apps.

Doing this may sound terrible if you find yourself always checking them, but when it comes to finding time to focus on school work, this may be a good option. By not having the apps on your phone, you don't have the temptation to be checking it all the time and can keep you more concentrated.

Put your phone on do not disturb.

If you do not feel like deleting app, this may be the easiest way to keep those distraction at bay. Having your phone on do not disturb will stop the notifications from making your phone buzz. You will still be able to get calls from people that are in your "favorites". Having it set on do not disturb will keep your phone from lighting up all the time.

Study outside.

Personally, studying in my room probably stresses me out more than helps because I always end up just trying to clean my room and I end up wasting time. By studying outside, you won't be dealing with distractions that you may find in your room like T.V etc.

Have study groups.

One thing that has helped me a lot this semester is making friends in my classes. By having friends in class, it makes it easier to stay motivated when going over the material. Aside from it being more fun than by yourself, very good points and ideas can be made in groups because there is more than just two people giving out ideas.

Reward yourself for a long day of studying.

Studying for long periods of time can be tiring and you may find yourself feeling delusional from lack of sleep. By rewarding yourself, it allows your mind to take a break from the hard work. Reward yourself by eating something you like or buying something you've been wanting. After finals, you'll realize it was all worth it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
