5 Ways To Get Organized While You're Stuck At Home

Once you can finally leave the house, you'll be happy you did these five things.

With just about everyone stuck at home right now, it can be hard to find things to keep yourself entertained all day long. These things will not only help give you something to do, but will allow you to organize yourself so that your future self will thank you.

1. Clean Out Your Closet

We always say we'll do this when we get the time, but we never do. Make a day out of it - go through it all and get rid of anything that no longer fits or that's just not your style anymore. Put it all in a bag to donate when you're finally out of the house. While you're at it, if you hate the way your closet or drawers look, take this as the time to reorganize them. Rearrange the way your closet looks, organize everything by color or by type of clothing, and maybe determine a new way to fold your clothes that makes it easier to fit in your dresser drawers.

2. Clean Out Your Phone

None of us ever take the time to clean out our phones - we just don't, it's non-essential. Now that you have the time, though, why not? Get rid of all those old contacts and apps you no longer use or need. You can also take this time to back up all of your photos to your computer and delete the ones off of your phone so that you have more space for new ones. You can even take this as a time to change the layout of your apps or change your home or lock screen picture.

3. Clean Out Your Email

Okay, let's be real, EVERYONE needs to do this. Going through all of your old emails and spam mail and deleting what's not needed will allow you to feel so much more organized when you're back to work.

4. Organize Your Tupperware

Everyone has that one cabinet or drawer with way too much Tupperware that you basically slam shut after getting what you need... all in the hopes that everything stays inside. Take this time as a chance to get rid of the things that don't have lids, that are stained, or that you no longer use. You'll thank me later, trust me.

5. Color Coordinate Your Work Tasks

For those of you who still have work to get done, print out a calendar and color coordinate each task that you need to get done and write them out. You'll feel better knowing all of your tasks are written out, plus with each task being a certain color you're more likely to acknowledge what it is and get it done on time. Not to mention, you don't have to write the name of the task over and over since you'll know what it is based on it's color, so it's less work on your part. It's worked wonders for me in college.

Just remember to take all of this one day at a time - that's all anyone can do. Try to keep yourself busy, but also allow yourself some much needed rest and relaxation. You deserve it at a time like this.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
