With 2017 drawing to a close, people often focus on Christmas or other religious holidays that occur towards the end of the month. However, New Year's Eve is also right around the corner and often doesn't get planned early enough, as attention is focused on the other holidays.

Here is a list of three ways that you can potentially celebrate New Year's Eve, and remember - it's never too early to start planning. Doing so ahead of time can help secure a venue, guest list and price range before the rush and stress occur.

1. Go out to eat

With the new year approaching, it's important to consider making dining reservations early as these things tend to fill up. By now, a majority of restaurants should have their holiday or pre-fixed menus ready, so it's the perfect time to let your inner foodie start browsing cuisines, deals, and NYE specials.

2. Host an event, or attend one at a friend's house

Be it a party, a movie night, a potluck, or just a hang out, if you can be around your friends to bring in 2018, you definitely should. Now would be a great time to start either planning an event yourself, or hinting at your friends that you want to do something with them on December 31st. Doing so may be considerably cheaper than going out, and the guest list would only entail people whom you care about.

3. Go out!

With 2017 coming to a close, everyone will be looking for a way to celebrate New Year's Eve. Now is the perfect time to start looking, and even making reservations at places that may soon fill up and be unavailable. There are often deals, guest lists, and early bird specials so planning this early may end up saving you and your friends a lot of money, as well as guaranteeing you a spot wherever you would like to be.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
