Ways to be Productive During Christmas Break

Christmas break for college students is a glorious six week getaway from school. Although it's nice to take a step back and recuperate, six weeks is a long time to goof off doing nothing. Here are a few ways to be productive with your time this Christmas break!

1. Read Books

If you're like me and enjoy reading for leisure but never have time during the semesters, Christmas break is the best time to read a good book or two.

2. Learn a New Skill

Maybe you've been dying to learn to play the piano, maybe you want to take up a sport or want to learn calligraphy. Do it!

3. Travel

If there's somewhere you've been wanting to travel for a weekend or just a day, Christmas break gives you plenty of time to do that! Bonus points if you can travel after New Years, when there's less holiday traffic.

4. Finish A Project

Is there a project or task you started a while back, and never finished? Now is a great time to accomplish that project!

5. Start Working Out

If you've been wanting to get in better shape, this is a good time to start! Especially with all the food that comes with the holidays.

6. Take Care of Business

If you have several errands you need to do, like fill out a form or complete some kind of important process, do it now when you have more time.

7. Start Planning

Go ahead and make a list of things you want to accomplish or need to do in the spring semester. Maybe even get a head start on some of the work you'll have to do. For example, if you need an internship soon, go ahead and research potential employers.

The Christmas break is awesome, and we deserve to relax, but don't become a sloth!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
