I recently watched a fantastic movie that I had not seen for a long time: World War Z. You can argue with me if you would like about the validity of this film, but either way, it has got me thinking; I need to be prepared for the apocalypse.

I have a serious phobia of Zombies. Yes, I understand they are not necessarily the most prominent problem in the world at this moment, but you never KNOW! I would be the first person to die. I am the most dispensable, with no real assets to bring to the group. So I came up with this plan to keep us useless ones alive!

1. Befriend tough people

When worst comes to worst you want to be best friends with those who can protect themselves and you because we all know you can't protect yourself.

2. Cardio

I am taking this one from Zombieland because if there is one thing that you can do to protect yourself is outrun the slow ones in the group. Weed out the WEAK! NATURAL SELECTION!

3. Go somewhere discreet or secluded

I had a debate on whether or not it would be better to go far into the mountains or stay by water so you could swim away if the Zombies came. I am not gonna get into it, but let's just say that you can't swim forever so that is stupid.

4. Know what wild things you can and cannot eat

Your food supply won't last long because let's face it... you will stress eat all of it before the first week is over. But if you know what you can eat off bushes and vines, then you are good to go!

I Am Legend (sorry if I just spoiled the movie for you).

6. Get a weapon

Don't get a gun because the movies are so unrealistic. You would run out of bullets in a heartbeat and then be dead before your heart could beat again. Get an ax, or knife... or a boomerang!

7. Pack a bag of essentials

You never know what you won't have when you leave so pack EVERYTHING: Toilet paper, gum, glue... hand sanitizer could definitely come in handy after killing a zombie.

8. Stay hydrated

Your body can only stay alive for three days without water, so stock UP. Don't let your electrolytes get depleted.

9. Use the buddy system

You never want to be caught alone, because then the zombie only has one target and it is much easier to get one target rather than choosing between two. Also, you can always throw the other person behind you to give you a head start.

10. Survive

Just don't die, and you'll be fine!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
