I'm not quite sure what happened, but somehow I blinked and the semester was almost already over. That being said, finals season might not actually be upon us yet, but it is just around the corner.

The season of stress, stress, and a little more stress is definitely not my favorite, and after the semester you may have had, it can be hard to stay motivated when finals finally arrive — so here are 11 ways to do just that.

1. Stay focused.

Giphy

I know it's hard — believe me, I'm procrastinating by just writing about how you should stay focused and not procrastinate — but staying focused on work and studying (etc, etc) is really going to help have the motivation you need to make it to the end of the semester.

2. Remember that grades don't define you, but good ones can help you out.

Giphy

Grades do not define you, I repeat, grades do not define you. HOWEVER, good grades can be beneficial to you, and so that in and of itself is (I think) some pretty good motivation to stay ahead when it comes to studying and preparing for finals.

3. Think about the what's waiting for you once you finish them.

Giphy

Once you finish midterms, finals, and everything else you might have to do before the end of the semester, remember that you (probably) are going HOME. If not that, then you're at least getting some free time, some no-stress time and some relaxation time.

4. Get some sleep.

Giphy

You can't stay motivated if you're tired. That being said, you need to get some sleep — which I know sounds ridiculous coming from someone who never does it, but STILL.

5. Keep your body happy and healthy.

Giphy

A happy and a healthy body is a motivated body. If you feed it and use it right, then you'll be motivated as possible when it comes to tackling finals.

6. Don't spend too much time in the library.

Giphy

If you spend too much time studying in the library, you're going to be drained, both physically and mentally (and those motivation levels are going to plummet). That being said, take a break every now and again, go for a walk around outside and just do something to keep your spirits up.

7. Keep your eyes on the prize.

8. Study whichever way works best for you.

Giphy

Find your groove when it comes to studying, and if you stick with it, you will be victorious.

9. Set goals for yourself.

Giphy

If you set goals for yourself, you'll be more likely to stay motivated trying to reach and achieve them. Right?

10. Recognize that no matter the outcome, things are going to be alright.

Giphy

No matter what happens, you can rest assured know that things are going to be okay. This semester might not be your best, but that's alright. Things might be looking down now, but they're always tomorrow, and plenty of days after that. You're going to be alright.

11. If you give your best, then you'll reach success.

Giphy

If you're giving finals your best efforts, then you're going to be successful. Maybe in the way you pictured success, and maybe not, but either way, you will be successful.

I know you might be tired, but we're in the home stretch. We can stay motivated, and we can be successful.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
