Ways To Say 'I Love You'

There's no better feeling in the world than hearing the one you love tell you how they feel about you. Of course, hearing the words "I love you" will never fail to make your heart melt. If you've found the right person, that special phrase will never get old, no matter how many times they say it. But what you might fail to realize is that there are a million other ways to say this, too. Listen close enough and you will notice your significant other telling you that they love you in more ways than you even knew existed.

"How's your day going?"

You might think they're just trying to make conversation, but if this person really cares about you, they're genuinely interested in your life and everything that it entails. They want to hear about the generous tip you got at work and the jerk who cut you off on the highway. They're not just asking you as a filler, they're asking you because they love you.

"This song reminded me of you."

This one's a bit more direct because you can feel it when they say it to you. You're on their mind, so much so that they can connect you to the world around them. Depending on the song, this could be one of the most flattering ways to tell someone how much they mean to you. Whether it's a country song about falling in love or a rock song about a free spirit, they thought of you because you're always in the back of their thoughts, because they love you.

"Are you hungry?"

As they say, the easiest way to a (wo)man's heart is through the stomach. Seriously, you know you're being taken care of when your significant other makes sure you're fed. You may not always realize, but this question has "I love you" written all over it.

"I just wanted to hear your voice."

There's nothing like asking why they called only for them to respond with this casual sentence. They didn't call to ask for a favor. They didn't call to complain. They simply called because they wanted to hear your voice. This is a less intense way of telling you they miss you, and also an indirect way of saying that you provide them with a sense of comfort. Simply hearing your voice over the phone is all they needed to feel fulfilled, because they love you.

"I know that look... What's up?"

They know you. With just one look they can sense that something is on your mind. Is there any better feeling than the contentment of having someone who knows you just as well or better than you know yourself? Not only that, but they're asking because they want to know about the exact thought that's haunting your mind. And they want to help you fix the problem, because they love you.

"You can have some of mine."

When they have something that you want, they're always willing to share with you. While they have their flaws of being greedy and selfish on occasion, to you they would give the world. Really, that's all that matters in love: sharing and compromise.

"I'll always back you up, but..."

There are two parts to this one. The first is that they would stand by you through anything. It doesn't matter if you're right or dead wrong, they will always support you and have your back against others. That is because they love you. The second part, however, is just as important, if not more. The "but" implies that they continue with their real, genuine opinion and advice on the situation. You know someone cares about you and your wellbeing when they will always tell it like it is and be honest with you. If you have someone that always agrees with you, are they really helping you to better yourself as you grow? The person that is truthful does so because they love you.

"Text me when you get home."

Yet another way to prove to you that they care. While they can't always be there with you every step of the way, they still do everything in their power to make sure you're always safe. Never take this phrase for granted and never forget to text them when you get home.

"Everything will be alright."

While honesty and realness is the best policy, a little comforting and reassurance never hurt anyone. When you're feeling down or like everything is going the wrong way, they're there to pick you up because they love you.

So go thank your significant other for all the ways they told you they loved you and you barely even noticed.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
