11 Ways To Cope After Finals Week

With such little time to prepare for finals week, everyone is on the verge of losing their sanity trying to salvage their grades and re-learn a semester-worth of material for five classes all at once. And, let's be honest, you know you told yourself you'd start studying during Thanksgiving break, but that plan went down the drain the second you got home. There's no point in getting mad at yourself now.

It's going to be rough for the next week or two. But, once finals week is done and over with, you can be responsibility-free again! We all know we're going to barely make it out alive, but there are ways to cope after!

1. Catch up on your sleep

Finals week got you sleeping for only a few hours. Now that it's over, go ahead and sleep all day, every day! You deserve it!

2. Eat anything and everything your heart desire

If any of our grandmas found out we'd been living off ramen and coffee, she won't be too happy. Have yourself some great food and devour it. You've been deprived of proper meals, anyway!

3. Go shopping

Spoil yourself! You have to reward yourself for all that hard work you did. It's a pretty solid reason to do some damage to your bank account.

4. Binge-watch multiple shows

What's better than being a couch potato and starting new shows or catching up on your favorite ones? You've got nothing else to do for now, so why not take advantage of that!

5. Hang out with your friends

We've been away from our friends for some months. Some of us suck at keeping in touch and checking up on each other. We've all been busy, but that's not an excuse anymore. Make plans with the squad and and catch up with one another!

6. Go on a trip

If you've still got some extra money, treat yourself again! Go somewhere fun and relaxing. Sitting at home can get tiring!

7. Spend some quality time with your family

You've missed them. As much as you might not want to admit it, you actually missed living under the same roof as them. Go grocery shopping with your mom, watch sports with your dad, hang out with your siblings, or have dinner together.

8. Start hitting the gym again

Remember when you were so good about working out, but then school decided to get in the way? Now that you're on break, go and sweat all that stress out! Get those gains!

9. Shoot your shot

Oh, you know what I mean. You think you've forgotten about that one person, but I'll bet you didn't. You've got a lot of time now! No more excuses about being so busy.

10. Enjoy the company of your pets

Cuddle with your dog or cat or both! Pets always know how to make us feel better.

11. Go in hibernation mode

Finally, if needed, do the extreme. Go in full hibernation mode. If your finals screwed you up pretty badly, this is the perfect option. You'll feel like a completely different person after!

Finals week got the best of us. It did a lot of damage as per usual. But, we made it out alive somehow. It's time to destress and enjoy life once again!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
