I don’t know what’s worse in life… failure or waiting to get back on your feet…
Having patience is a challenging thing, especially when your life has been taking a downward turn. You may feel as if your destination is leading you further into darkness and despair. Life tends to
Put a strain on the most calm and collected individuals, having even the most patient people crack and fall. But what if I told you that the pressure that comes with that fall helps you not only to become greater in yourself, but it also makes you hungry for more failure?
Let me explain…
It was just last week when I had the vision to create “The New World”, filled with plenty of opportunities for the youth and the older individuals that once lived in destruction and uncertainty. For those that know me, you can only imagine how my mouth was running a mile a minute speaking about how much I’m going to change the world and what not. For those who know me even more, you would know that some jazz and R&B helped inspire me to come up with these enormous visions. Let me tell you something. There is nothing wrong with aiming high in order to reach your destination, but there is a problem with not knowing how to get to your destination. But on the other hand, isn’t that the best part of getting to your destination? The twist and turns and the trails and tribulations that helped you reach your goal in times of doubt? What makes you fall is the fact that you’re not ready for the various challenges that await you. What makes you hungry for more is the fact that each set back pushes you towards a major comeback, but only if you believe in yourself.
People say that actions speak louder than words and that faith as small as a mustard seed will bring benefits beyond our wildest dreams. Well, I challenge you today to test your faith. Take it in this context: no matter where you buy a chair, you have no doubt in your mind that when you sit on that chair you will not fall through. My question is why do you have that assumption not knowing how the end result is going to be? My answer to you is because you have faith. Faith is by far one of the strongest aspects that you can have in your life. Faith is what brings you happiness and assurance throughout any time of struggle. Every time you wake up, you’re putting your faith in something. Whether it’s catching your 8:30 bus to go to work in the morning, or knowing that you will overcome a devastating blow that was put in your life. Every second of your life is determined by the decisions you make, and how much faith is behind every last one.
In my life, I call it the never ending train to righteousness. It means that I’m on a train to seek higher understanding and wisdom. Throughout my journey, there will be plenty of train stops. Each stop represents something that can derail you, and prevent you from getting to your destination. If you fall victim to the temptations and bury yourself in a hole, you get off at that stop.
Get it? Every stop you get off at represents the problems you have faced in your life. For example: my hot temper can get me off on hot temper boulevard. Now if I continue my anger problems, I will continue to stay at that select station and won’t be able to get back on the train. It is then up to me to pull myself together in order to get back on the train. You will know when to get back on the train when good things start happening. You have made it to the last stop when you have completed your goal.
When you have finished your goal, you get back on the train as it will take you to your next goal. Each time you get to the last stop, it adds confidence and strength towards your next task. The key is to stick with it and be comfortable with being uncomfortable. I’m not going to sit here and say it’s easy but if you don’t remember anything, remember this…
When you feel every step, then you provide a purpose to your journey and meaning to your destination. And that my friend is what putting your foot down stands for.
