"Supernatural" has been on the air since 2005 and is now approaching its 14th season. The show has quite a passionate fanbase all over the entire world. In fact, there are multiple "Supernatural" fan conventions a year and they take place in a multitude of locations - Hawaii, Alaska, Rome, Russia, and of course the more obvious places like Chicago, New York City, etc. As of today, the stars of the show have participated in 100 conventions and are still signing on to do more. So basically what I'm trying to say is that the "Supernatural" fan base is huge.
Now, up until a couple of months ago, I'd never seen a single second of it but was still conscious of the fact that it existed. I was never necessarily against watching it, I just wasn't interested in it. I always saw in it the "Recommended for You" section on Netflix, but just always ignored it, because again, wasn't really interested in it and secondly, even if I was....it's a monster of a show. There were so many seasons, all with up to 23 episodes that were about 40 minutes each. That is a bit of a commitment and I have commitment issues when it comes to TV series.
But one day I decided to watch it and it changed my life. So here are five reasons you should follow in my footsteps and binge watch "Supernatural."
1. The eye-candy
Warner Brothers
I figured it would be beneficial to start with the most superficial reason - the hot guys. Now, this may be more of a preference thing (I, for some strange reason, have this weird obsession with actors who are in their 30s-40s. Ask my friends, they'll tell ya), but the three main characters in this show are just...wow. Maybe it's just the brooding, serious looks they always have on their faces. Or, maybe it's just how badass they are. I'm not sure what it is, but they're definitely all A+ to me, especially Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) and Misha Collins (Castiel).
2. The supernatural aspect of it all
If you're someone who is interested in the supernatural, no pun intended, than this the show for you. Or, even if you're someone who is into horror or scary movies, this is also a good show for you. They tackle everything from ghosts to werewolves to heaven and hell. They even discover some supernatural creatures that I didn't even know existed. It is all just super fascinating.
3. The relationship between Sam and Dean
One of the biggest themes in this show is family. Sam and Dean Winchester are brothers who were kind of born into this family of hunters. Through out the series, their relationship is constantly put to test and their lives are constantly hanging in the balance. But no matter what happens, they will go to the ends of the Earth to make sure the other is safe. It's inspiring and heart warming.
4. The sarcasm
For the most part, this show is a drama. There are so many intense, tear-joking moments. However, every once in a while, a dark humor kind of joke will slide in. Also, the banter between the characters is so nicely executed. Some of the comebacks the characters have towards each other will have your mouth dropping open in shock.
5. Castiel
There is a slight chance that this reason is here based on extreme bias, mostly because Castiel is by far my character on the show and because I think Misha Collins is extremely attractive. But anyway, Castiel is an Angel of the Lord and he basically gets tossed into the human world. Watching him try to navigate what being a human is, is so hilarious. Some of the things he says and does...it's just super entertaining to watch. Not to mention, Misha Collins is an insanely talented actor. In fact, Castiel's voice on the show isn't even Misha's real voice, it's just an accent he does. He's even had to play different versions of Castiel, all of which have different accents associated with those versions. It's just insane.
