February might be a dry season for new TV shows (all the new summer shows aren't out yet, any new shows are shunted to the side in favor of awards programming, your Netflix queue is exhausted after a long winter break full of binge-watching Gilmore Girls), but if you're frantically trying to find another show to watch, then look no further than the award-winning serial Atlanta.
Created by singer/actor/all-around talented person Donald Glover, Atlanta follows the life and times of Ernest, a young father who convinces his up-and-coming rap artist cousin to hire him as a manager.
A Golden Globe-winning show, Atlanta has it all: amazing acting, moments of levity and humor, a fascinating plot, and a ton of really good music in the show's soundtrack. It's funny without being slapstick or too comical, dramatic without any cheesiness, and wholly enrapturing, especially when you're able to get past the initial plot setup and really get to know the characters and their personalities.
Anyone interested in starting the show is in luck, too: a second season will be coming out on FX on the first of March, so you have just enough time to watch the whole first season (which is available on FX and for purchase on iTunes and Amazon if you're in the US).
The episodes are only a half-hour long, so you'll be able to speed through the series with little effort, especially because the show is so darn good!
In short, go check out Atlanta: it's very, very good.
