Ah, yes, the warm weather of Spring has finally begun to reach Fordham's Rose Hill campus. After all the drenching rain, freezing temperatures, and snow that can only be enjoyed before it turns into black ice, Mother Earth has finally granted us a few days of 60+ temperatures.
Now, before everyone gets their hopes up, let me reiterate that Spring weather is beginning to come. Of course, living in New York, the weather can go from 70 and sunny to 26 and flurries in what seems like a whole 20 minutes.
Although the Rose Hill campus is stunning after a fresh snowfall and the Fall weather when we return after summer break is nice, there is nothing like Spring at Fordham. In just a few weeks, the weather becomes warm and Rose Hill blooms once again.
One of my favorite sights to see is Edward's Parade packed with hundreds of people just having a good time. Frisbees and footballs are flying through the air (inevitably hitting many unsuspecting people along the way), soccer balls are being kicked left and right, and of course, there's the mass amount of people simply laying in the sun and enjoying the company of friends. It truly is a beautiful sight. There is something so quintessentially college about seeing hundreds of students on one big lawn.
Not only is Eddies a great sight when the weather is warm, but the whole mood and vibe of campus drastically changes. People are walking around... just for a nice stroll. Even my daily walk to class seems so much more positive and easy-going when I don't have to worry about how many layers to put on.
And who doesn't love summer and spring clothes?! As much as I love sweater weather, being able to throw on shorts and a t-shirt is a luxury I surely miss during the Winter and Fall seasons.
Should I be studying for midterms instead of hanging out on Eddies? Yeah, probably. But who can pass up an opportunity to lounge and enjoy the scenery of Fordham?
