Waiting is a word that we always dread the most when it comes to the promises and purposes of God. Whether financial, relational, or personal it is as if this one promise is hanging over our heads and it is just out of reach. It often becomes somewhat of a hard task, especially at the beginning. Because at the beginning, that promise is all that you want, well besides God, Himself.
One thing that I have learned in this waiting journey is that oftentimes waiting when it comes to the promises of God becomes somewhat of a battle. A battle of the mind, heart, and faith. It becomes something that not only God uses, but the enemy as well. See, the enemy in your waiting season won’t come to you as something that you never wanted. No, he will come in the form of something that God promised. And when he does, if you let it, it will take you for the ride of your life.
When we as Christians become distracted by the promise or even allow ourselves to get distracted by the enemy, everything that God is doing becomes of little concern to us. We start to obsess, and we allow our hearts, minds and feelings to take president over God. When in reality, the waiting season is supposed to produce fruits of patience, hope and perseverance.
Romans 8:25
"But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it."
God wants our minds to be stayed on Him. He uses the waiting season, to produce fruits that would never have been otherwise cultivated without it. The waiting season although it doesn’t feel like it, is about constant cultivation. Cultivation of our gifts, talents, and faith so that when the season ends, and God provides that promise, all the glory goes to Him.
So today I want to encourage you and myself. No matter how long you have been waiting (days, months or years), no matter how many hours you have spent praying or crying. God is someone who will bring that promise to pass in your life. All you need to do is pray diligently, let your faith arise and allow God to have His perfect work in you. Let God prove to you how faithful He is. Trust me, what God promises, will always come to pass.
