With the midterm elections right around the corner, the heated question arises: Who will be our next governor of Pennsylvania? Democratic incumbent Tom Wolf? Or Penn Waste Owner and previous state-level senator Scott Wagner?

With social media going crazy against President Donald Trump and the Republican Party right now, it is so important to be educated about our candidates and be able to distinguish what is true about them and what is not. Now, I'm not here to bash Governor Wolf. He seems like a genuinely nice person, but nice people don't always get their work done. And he is not the focus of this piece.

I am here to tell you why I am voting for Scott Wagner for Governor on November 6th, the best candidate on the ballot.

When I was 17 years old, I had the honor of meeting Scott for the first time. He invited the Teenage Republicans to a Revs game, and I never miss an opportunity to meet one of my state congressmen. When he got there, we all introduced ourselves and he began talking about his role as a politician and as a businessman. I was intrigued. He wasn't charming like most politicians try to be. He was candid and honest and took a real interest in meeting with us, even though some of us weren't even at the age to vote yet. And this is the kind of guy I want to represent PA. I want someone who knows what they are doing and respects the people around him, no matter their characteristics. When I left the game that night, I knew Scott would be doing bigger things than just state level senator, because I left with a feeling of trust in my representative.

Now, I realize that everything I just said deals with Scott as a person, right after I referenced how Governor Wolf is nice but not for me. But that feeling I got that night resonated with me, right into this past year and Scott's campaign. But here's why Scott's is is right for PA outside of who he is:

Part of his policies calls for investing in our public schools, so many which are struggling across the state from low funding and neglect. Scott wants to increase funding by over $1 billion annually without raising taxes for the citizens. And raising taxes is something Governor Wolf is notorious for. Scott cares about the children of PA and making sure they have the education and resources they need to succeed in their futures.

Scott also understands that not everything is about higher education. As a society, we spend so much time emphasizing that you have to go to college, to get a job, to be successful. But that's not true. There are students who are not interested in school or higher education, and there are so many trade jobs and other opportunities in the workforce available that these students could step into rather than being lost while figuring out the rest of their lives. Trade and other technical jobs with good salaries lead to a good future too.

One of my favorite things Scott is running on: Goodbye high and problematic school property taxes! That should be enough to get out and vote. Scott wants to be done with raising taxes, something that has not happened in 45 years. Scott is invested in helping PA's economy grow through various means including growing our job base, expanding energy resources while balancing environmental impact and investing in workforce training. Read more about Scott's Job/Economy plans here.

Discussing everything great Scott Wagner will do for Pennsylvania would take way too much time. Education and the economy are important to me as a young citizen, so that is what I focused on. But you can learn more about him at the Scott Wagner for Governor website.

When I go to the polls on November 6th, I know I am making the right choice for PA. Are you?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
