Put Your Anger To Work This Election Year

Why a single voter, who knows it is important to vote but is also afraid that there are forces bigger than one person, makes a difference?

Put Your Anger To Work This Election Year

I want to applaud Senator Mitt Romney for his heroic speech during the impeachment trial of Donald J. Trump. What rang true to me was the mention of knowing he will have to explain his decision to his children and his children's children. He knew in his heart the oath that he gave to his god as well as the American people, was a solemn one that did not have anything to do with tribal faith, but truth and honesty. He knows full well that the bully pulpit will strike down on him, however, his faith will see him through it all.

Personally, the whole process was devastatingly predictable. Which is probably how most Americans, as well as the world, felt about it. We've become a society of watchers. Reality TV has taken the place of the politics of the day. Nothing gets accomplished unless our president tweets about it and then has a press conference to tell everyone he has "the best people," or "America has never had a better economy." Imagine, if you were in a coma for the past three years and woke up to see this happening on a daily basis.

How does a single voter, who knows it is important to vote but is also afraid that there are forces bigger than one person, make a difference? Being angry and disappointed are acceptable emotions, but what needs to happen is turning that anger and disappointment into action. What can one person do? Where can you go to make sure your voice, and more importantly your vote count?

The challenge is to recruit everyone, no matter what political affiliation or political agenda to get involved. Take the bull by the horns, sort to speak, and try to steer everyone in your neighborhood and community into a less divisive group. If you don't know what political party you identify with, don't stress, just register as an independent.

However, first. figure out what matters to you. How you can get into the thick of it and become a volunteer or an advocate for a candidate, cause, or just to make sure everyone gets a voice and vote in this year's election.

To do this takes time and effort to learn about the parties. Because each has a unique history and for all of their current flaws want what is best for our young nation. Compare your views with their views and ethics. In addition, as you listen to and read about the candidates running for political offices, try very hard to keep an open mind. Even if you have one issue that is important to you, make sure that the candidate's issues on other topics are not a contradiction to your principles. Try not to sacrifice your vote for just one agenda.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
