I Visited The Sweetest Place In NYC

The Sugar Factory made my SWEET sixteen even sweeter than it already was!

I took a trip to the SWEETEST location in the city! The Sugar Factory in the meatpacking district of New York City was a confectionery delight, and I am so serious. Picture this - a 60-ounce goblet of cotton candy-colored, and flavored juice. Except then, your waiter asks you if you'd like cotton candy, lollipop sticks, and blue gummy whales floating inside of the blue sugary liquid.

You say we'll have two of course! Don't forget, though, that the drinks are 32-42 dollars a piece. (You could buy the Modern Renaissance palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills for that price. But then again, that doesn't taste quite as good. But that's beside the point!)

So, here's how I ended up where I was. It's the day before my 16th birthday! You know what that means: Time to celebrate! And for a candy lover, what better way to enjoy your birthday than the restaurant with the most candy and sweetness in New York? Especially on your SWEET 16. So, my parents decide to take me to the critically acclaimed "Most Instagrammed Restaurant Ever."

I sipped from the same goblets as Kim Kardashian, Bella Thorne, and all the Jenners. I scanned through menus with dozens upon dozens of confectionery options. Would you like a hamburger topping your milkshake?

Well, yeah, of course, you would. How about a milkshake who's glass is covered in chocolate and caramel covered popcorn? How about a watermelon flavored drink topped with billions of Sour Patch watermelons? Um, ¡Claro que Si!¿Como no?

Boy were those Instagrammers right in appointing The Sugar Factory the most Instagrammed Restaraunt ever. There are too many things to take pictures of. Your goblet came out literally smoking, the dry ice evaporating from the 60-ounce glass creating a mystical, fantastical vision. Is this a restaurant or a witches lair? The milkshake glass itself was edible, covered in cocoa.

The menu consisted of as many milkshake options as you could conjure up in your imagination. Even the waiting staff couldn't deny it. "If I let you go through every single thing on the menu, I'd have to come back tomorrow." And you can tell by their personalities that they are just as happy as you to be there!

I can't tell you how many birthday songs I heard, each one with a lit up sparkler to make the celebration even shinier! And this wasn't a regular birthday song. The entire wait staff made you feel extra special, interjecting the song with "You Go Girl!," and lots of "Woohoo!" and "Say whaatttt!"

I can't tell you how many pictures I took, nevertheless POSTED, on Instagram. Literally, you just can't go here without posting on Instagram. That's, like, a sin. Although not topped with sugar and unicorn sticks, even the burgers were Insta-Worthy themselves.

My trip to The Sugar Factory NYC was a blast for the entire family. It wasn't hard to pick something off the menu because everything was straight up amazing. It may not be the cheapest restaurant, but it's the experience that you're paying for, along with the unique, high-quality food.

If you're not up for a whole meal, I totally recommend stopping at this bustling cafe for a shake or a drink. (Served alcoholic, and non-alcoholic, by the way!) You totally won't regret it.

Special thanks to my parents for bringing me to this sweet little corner of the universe! I will totally be back again. See you next birthday, Sugar Factory NYC!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
