1. The Wright Brothers Memorial

Kitty Hawk, NC is home to where Wright Brothers Wilbur and Orville took the very first flight in 1903. Walking along the path where they first took off and landed is a must-see sight if you're around the area.

2. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

Located farther south of the island, Hatteras and Ocracoke are getaway spots that are home to many must-see attractions, including the Hatteras Lighthouse. 257 stairs up, the view is incredible and a necessity if you're seeking adventure.

3. Currituck Beach

The farthest area north, Corolla and Currituck Beach are home to the famous wild horses everyone hears about. While they are somewhat shy, sometimes you can get close enough to pet them while enjoying the sand in your toes.

4. Roanoke Island

From the Lost Colony Theaters to the Elizabethian Gardens, Roanoke Island, south of Manteo, is full of exciting things to explore that are more suitable for an older audience who are seeking to embrace the culture.

5. Putt Putt Golf Courses
