The ABCs of Vaping: A Beginner's Guide to Getting Started

Vaping is a much safer alternative to smoking, and has grown in popularity because of it. It’s also a great way to kick cigarettes. In this beginner's guide to vaping, you will learn the basics of what you need to get started.

What is Vaping?

In its simplest form, vaping is the act of inhaling and exhaling vapor produced by an electronic cigarette or similar device. Vaping doesn't create tar or carbon monoxide, two of the most harmful components of cigarette smoke. And because there's no combustion involved, vaping is also far less likely to cause lung cancer than smoking.

What Device Do I Need?

The first step is to choose a vaping device that suits your needs. If you're just starting out, grabbing a starter kit might be your best choice. These kits come with everything you need to get started, including a rechargeable battery, charger, and vape pen. Once you've got your kit, all you need is some e-liquid (more on that in a minute).

How Do I Fill The Atomizer?

Once you have your vape pen, it's time to fill your atomizer with e-liquid. E-liquid is available in a wide variety of flavors and nicotine levels, so take some time to experiment and find one that suits your taste. Most atomizers holds about 1 ml of e-liquid, but make sure to check yours before filling so you don't overdo it. To fill your atomizer, simply unscrew the cap and drip the e-liquid into the chamber until it reaches the fill line. Once it's full, screw the cap back on and you're ready to vape!

How Do I Start Vaping?

To start vaping, simply press the button on your device (if it has one) and take a drag from the mouthpiece. You should see a small LED light turn on when you press the button—this means that your device is working properly. When you inhale, the e-liquid will be drawn into the atomizer where it will be heated and turned into vapor. Keep inhaling until you've taken enough vapor into your lungs (usually about 1 second), then exhale slowly. And that's it! You're now officially vaping!

Vaping is a great way to ditch cigarettes for good—but only if you do it right. Just remember to start slow, choose a flavor that appeals to you, and don't overdo it when filling your atomizer. Before long, you'll be an old pro at vaping.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
