a boy freshman year Taught Me This Valuable Lesson

"Maybe this is the case for many of us, when we wonder why certain people leave without answer."

This is a conversation I will never forget.

It was around October of my freshman year in college. I was speaking to a boy who lives on my floor in the lobby around midnight.

There was a group of us lounging in the lobby on the beaten down couches while we were speaking on the side. You told me how scared you are about meeting new people and opening up again. As we were discussing, you began to go on your phone to show me something. You came across this one girl's VSCO, and you began talking about how beautiful she is. Your eyes lit up looking at her profile, exclaiming how kind and pure her soul is.

I said, "Do you like her?"
You said yes.
I continued saying, "Then go for it."
You replied, "Never, I can't."
I asked why not and you said,

"She's too nice. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I ever hurt her. "

I sat back in pure curiosity and my mind wandered.

Maybe this is the case for many of us when we wonder why certain people leave without an answer. Maybe, just maybe, it has nothing to do with us. It has everything to do with them. Maybe, they aren't up for the challenge to be the best version of themselves for you.

You deserve the best, and even they know that.

In the society we live in today, it is very easy to jump to the conclusion, "I did something wrong, what can Ido to fix it?" But, we cannot allow ourselves to jump into this constant pattern.

It isn't always our fault. Some things are out of our hands.

With this concept in mind, we must also remind ourselves that maybe some people are supposed to leave. It allows us to open our eyes and see the independence we have, that we might not know we have. A rush of independence that helps us see the importance of letting go of those we shouldn't hold on to.

The importance of knowing that you deserve more.

Maybe, just maybe, that one person is supposed to leave for an even better person to come in. A certain person that will make you forget about the others that hurt you. Someone that is more deserving of your time and attention.

Looking at different perspectives creates a peace of mind.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
