DIY gifts can not only be super cost effective but they show your loved one that you took the time and effort to make them something special. You’re showing them your appreciation by giving them something that was made for them and only them. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, here’s some inspiration to help you do something a little extra special for that special person in your life.

1. A candy box

For around $5, you can pick up a plastic container at your local craft store or even order one off of Amazon. Some even come with adjustable compartments to fill with all your significant others favorite candy and treats. You can tape a cute piece of tissue paper on the inside of the box or write a cute little message on the outside to make it more festive.

2. A message jar

Take a mason jar or other glass jar of your choosing and fill it with a bunch of different notes that have compliments, favorite memories, inside jokes, things that remind you of them, etc. A message jar is a simple gift that’s guaranteed to make your significant other smile, not just on Valentine’s Day, but all year long.

3. Deck of love

This is a cute gift idea for anyone. You take a deck of cards and fill them with 52 reasons why you love that person. The reasons could be heartfelt, silly, or even as simple as “I love you because you’re you.” Everyone likes to feel appreciated and this is a great way to do just that.

4. Carved candle

A carved candle is another simple gift for just about anyone. Start with a candle of that person’s favorite scent and simply carve your little message right into the side. Trace over your message with a marker and add some decorative stickers to make it really pop. Wrap a bow around the top using some festive ribbon and it’s as simple as that.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
