7 Things To Do On Valentine's Day When You Don't Have A Boo
Tai Jyun Chang

Oh, Valentine's Day. Sometimes it can be the best day in the world filled with chocolate, cards, and love. On the other hand, it can also be filled with loneliness, darkness, and hatred. If you find yourself alone this Valentine's day, don't be sad! You will be able to do whatever you want. You don't have to sit on your couch all day watching Netflix and eating a gallon of ice cream (You totally can if you want. Whatever floats your boat!) Here are some excited and fun things to do by yourself on Valentine's Day.

1. Go out and watch a movie

Now you might see a bunch of couples out holding hands but don't mind them. They have to share their popcorn and candy and can't stuff their faces when they want to. You can do whatever you want. Buy that gallon of popcorn and drown it in butter. This is your day! Eat all the candy and get that extra side of cheese. Your stomach will be full by the end of the movie and is that not the best feeling in the world?

2. Go shopping

Don't have a spending limit! Just kidding, if you have a spending limit don't pass it if you don't want to but this is your time to go out and buy some stuff you always wanted. That cute dress you saw the other week. Go get it! That camera you want, go get it! This is your time to be who you want to be and get everything you ever wanted because you are a strong, independent who don't need no man to buy you things!

3. Go the spa

Sometimes you just want to relax and take a breather. Treat yourself to a day full of relaxation and a good massage. Paint your nails, get a face mask and feel replenished. It's time to feel good about yourself. Get your confidence shooting through the roof and you will be able to take over the world!

4. Do something adventurous

Maybe shopping or spa days aren't your things. Let's go for something adventurous. For my adrenaline junkies, go skydiving or spend a whole day at an amusement park. Get your heart racing and feeling good. For those outdoors people, go on a hike or even camping. This is your time to do what you love or to try something new.

5. Invite your friends over for a LIT party

You don't have to be alone this holiday. Invite your friends over and throw a party! Get the drinks, snacks, and music ready because everyone will have a good time filled with dancing, food, and fun!

6. Volunteer at an animal shelter

You can also spend your time with adorable animals! Go to a shelter and volunteer to help them out for the day. You'll fall in love with the animals and who knows, maybe you'll adopt one.

7. Take time to grow within yourself

Today is about you. FInd yourself. Find who you want to be. Learn new things about you like new hobbies that seem interesting, plan a trip or practice an old talent of yours. You need to find yourself before you try finding someone else to be with.

It's never a bad thing to be alone on Valentine's Day. You should never be ashamed. People will go out looking for love when really all they have to do it wait because it will come to you. Love is amazing and powerful when you find the right person. So this Valentine's Day, if you are alone, don't be sad. Be happy because you can do whatever you want and who knows maybe you'll find the right person when you're out and about.

You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
