Love Is More Than Chocolate and Flowers, and Valentine's Day Isn't Just For Couples

Valentine's Day is here and love is in the air. Take a moment to step back and think about what love truly means to you. But really, it is just another day that people like to celebrate.

Love, a four-letter word. A word that is often used without even really realizing it. It can be more than just the love of your life. Love surrounds us in more ways than you can think.

In a traditional sense, love is someone you’re romantically involved with. You could be dating, married, engaged, talking or just plain crushing on them. But love is more than that. Love can be without another person, it can be simple everyday things that you love. For someone who hasn’t had a Valentine since the third grade, I’ve learned to love the little things.

Here are some things that I love and cherish as much as I would a partner:

1. Writing

2. Coconut

3. Fresh Sheets

4. Fresh sheets after shaving my legs

5. Cookies

6. Baking

7. Baking Cookies

8. The ocean

9. The waves I get in my hair from the beach

10. The salty air from the beach

11. Swimming

12. Music

13. People showing me music that they like

14. The crisp air on a summer night

15. Learning

16. My education

17. My bed after a long day

18. Iced tea on a hot afternoon

19. Hot tea on a cold evening

20. Burning a new candle

21. The sounds a keyboard clicking

22. Pastel colors

23. People smiling

24. Coffee

25. My friends laughing

26. A relaxing bath

27. People talking about things they love

28. Cities

29. Exploring

30. Paris

31. Traveling

32. New Adventure

33. Spontaneous adventures

34. Old Picture

35. In-n-Out

36. Random texts from old friends

37. People checking in on me

38. Food in general

39. The way the sky turns from pink and purple to orange and red during sunrise

40. Bonfires

41. My siblings

42. Putting makeup on

43. Self-care

44. London

45. Pasta

46. Cheese, lots and lots of cheese

47. Disneyland

48. Bullet journaling

49. Watching my friends succeed

50. Myself

Love does not have to have a romantic aspect to it. Learn to love the things around you.

XOXO

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
