Hey Ladies, Here Are 14 Ways To Spend Your Valentine's Day When You Don't Have A Bae

Since New Year’s is over and the majority of people have already failed at keeping up their resolutions, we all know what that means. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Now I know you could be sitting there fretting over the fact that you might not be cuffed in time for the wondrous day (I am too it’s okay.) But instead of looking at Valentine’s Day as a day of love and romance, look at it as a day to love yourself. Ladies, here are 14 ways to make Valentine’s Day a day to look forward to this year.

1. Spend it with the girls

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from being single, it’s quality time with your best girls, especially if they’re in the same boat as you. Make Valentine’s Day a day to put any romantic issues you’re having in your life all out on the table. And who better to do it with than your girlfriends?

2. Watch your favorite movie

It doesn’t matter who you are. Watching your favorite movie always puts you in a good mood. If you’re feeling low this year about being single on Valentine's Day, turn that frown upside down by doing something that will make you smile and feel happy inside.

3. Treat yourself to something nice

Please take advantage of the saying “TREAT YO SELF.” Today is the day to live with no shame. Go out and splurge a little bit. Lord knows you deserve it just for being you. If you’ve been eyeing that new Michael Kors bag or even that new lipstick at the drug store. Don’t hold back. It’s all about you.

4. Eat all the candy with no regrets

Valentine’s Day is the day where they have the best deals on candy right next to Halloween. All of the Christmas candy is on sale this time of year. TAKE ADVANTAGE. Eat that chocolate. Open that Reese’s and enjoy. Smile while you do it too. It’ll feel so good.

5. Take a bath

After months of making fun of my sister for taking baths, I’ve come to realize with my own experience that baths are just fantastic. You get the bubbles going, put some music on, and settle into that warm water. OOOOH girl. Don’t get me started. It has got to be one of the most relaxing things and one of the best ways to clear your mind.

6. Get dressed up for no reason

I don’t know about you, but if there's one thing I like to do that takes me two hours plus, it’s to get ready. And when I say get ready, I mean get ready. Do your hair, do your makeup, and listen to some music while doing it. Oh, and don’t forget about that dress that fits you in all the right places. Doing this on Valentine's Day will help to pass the time and help you forget that most of your friends are out there with their boyfriends going out to dinner.

7. Make a list of things you love about yourself

This one has got to be the best way to start loving yourself. Even when it isn’t Valentine's Day, you should be doing this. Making this list doesn’t make you conceited, it just shows you what you couldn’t see before. Stop being so hard on yourself, especially about being single. Things could be so much worse.

8. Look in the mirror and say, “I love you”

You don’t need a man to tell you I love you when you can get all the love from yourself. Self-love is the most important love. Nuff SAID.

9. Have a glass of wine

Wine, especially in red form, has to be one of the most calming sources of liquid. Whether it be for dinner or that 5th box of chocolates you’re opening that you bought for yourself, wash it all down with a glass of wine. Being single on Valentine's Day won't seem so lonely. You have wine as your friend.

10. Read a book

Okay, so let me just say I have been getting into reading lately and let me tell you how therapeutic it has been. Your mind goes to this other world and you get so lost in it that you forget you're sitting in your room with a half-empty box of pizza next to you on the floor. Go out there and find yourself a good-ass book to read to make this Valentine’s Day amazing.

11. Eat that pizza

Come on. Do it. You want to. I want to. Dial that phone number to your favorite pizza place and don’t back down from the extra toppings. Today is your day.

12. Throw a party

Getting together with old or new friends can give you something to look forward to instead of sitting there wallowing in self-pity on how you couldn’t get a date on Valentine’s Day. And who knows? You just might catch someone’s eye that night.

13. Clean out your past

Take advantage of the extra time you have on your hands and get rid of any baggage from past relationships. Everyone has a past, but cleaning it out might help you to get over it and start a bigger and better future to add a new love to your heart.

14. Embrace it

I know it can be difficult to face the fact that you’re single on Valentine’s Day, but it is nothing to be ashamed of. This one day shouldn’t be the only day for you to appreciate love from someone else. Every day could be Valentine's Day when it’s with the right person. Keep ya head up, girl. The right guy is waiting for you right around the corner.

Take advantage of these ways to make Valentine’s Day great! You might be surprised at the outcome.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
