We all want to have the "perfect" Valentine, meaning the person we are together with. I always wanted that but unfortunately I have never had a Valentine.
I've dated around of course but have never been in a committed relationship. I received cute cards and candy from some of my guy friends, my girl friends, my sisters, and my parents. I won't forget to count the Valentine's we would give out in elementary school.
I wish I actually had a date to look forward to on Valentine's Day though. I was supposed to go on a date once in college for Valentine's Day but we ended up going to one of our friend's parties and he kept texting me to try and sleepover in his dorm. Of course, I ended up figuring out what his real agenda was. I am lucky enough to say I did not spend the whole Valentine's Day with him.
I know some people say Valentine's day is overrated. But if it's a day to show extra love to your significant other, I'm all for it. I just wish I could have someone special to receive chocolate and roses from.
I know I may not be missing out on much right now but seeing that everyone seems to be in love these days kind of makes me envious. It looks like this year so far I will be spending my Valentine's Day alone. However, I look forward to going to work to see the kids I work with and then going to dance class after; so hey, maybe I won't be alone after all.
Maybe one day I will get to have a true Valentine's Day with someone I am dating. I hope that "one day" is soon. Happy Valentine's Day to all of the lovebirds out there.
