My name is Keeley McConaughey, but sometimes, I'll go by Ali McConaughey, and other times, I'll be Ali Mac. Now, I find it funny that I have a list of aliases, or at least a few choices in the category of a.k.a. (also known as). I didn't start this as a means to hide myself out of fear of my own résumé. But, people are strange! Even some that I’m related to, and most people aren’t super keen on getting busted on behaving badly. It is for these reasons I’ve occasionally altered my identity. Not so much as to hide, but just enough so a Google search won't link EVERYTHING directly back to me! The reality is that I'm a good, honest, intelligent, interactive and reactive, RESPONSIBLE, well-proven human being, with quick wit, a sarcastic bite, loads of curiosity, and one heck of an odd personality. But despite what I think to be decent, admirable qualities, these traits also produce an anxiety in me when I realize how very unlike others I can be, or my ability to unintentionally and accidentally uncover scandals and mysteries. A great professor at UW-La Crosse told me "Sure, you're odd. But only because others are not odd enough." Man! I have to keep reminding myself of that! Because in addition to my personality being a bit unusual, perhaps overly-aggressively friendly, and always expecting others to try hard and act right too, I also have an incredible, dramatic life story. I was paralyzed in a car accident when I was nineteen, two-months after I’d started my first try at a college education. This was way back in November 2001. So, Yup! That's right! I’ve grown old! But in that long span of years, I returned to higher education and earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree, with honors, at the University of Wisconsin in La Crosse. I'm an English major with emphasis on rhetoric in writing with a core program minor that I earned quite accidentally as I tried to minor in Spanish, only to find technology wasn’t going to stay on my side.
