UGA Homecoming kicks off this week with a week full of exciting events.

The Homecoming Committee is hoping to make the student organization competition more fair this year.

In the past, winners of some of the various competitions were decided by how many members of an organization were in attendance at an event or which organization could bring in the most Facebook likes.

This year the organizations are separated by Black Division and Red Division. Black Division represents organizations with 150 members or more, while Red Division represents less than 150.

Per the Spirit of Homecoming Handbook, for attendance points the Black Division gets one point per attendee and is capped at 100, and the Red Devision gets two points per attendee and is capped at 50. The Homecoming Committee is hoping this will take care of the numbers advantage that the larger organizations have had in the past.

Along with attendance, points are decided by the Lip Sync Competition, participation with the Chalk Box Project, the Banner Competition, the Street Paint Competition, the Window Painting Competition and the Parade.

The winning organizations of the competitions will be announced at halftime of the Homecoming Game against Vanderbilt before the crowning of the king and queen.

Monday: Bulldog Bash in Tate Plaza from 9am to 3pm.

Tuesday: NeedToBreathe Concert at 8pm in Stegeman Coliseum.

Wednesday: Stop and Serve from 10am to 2pm.

Thursday: Lip Sync Competition at 7pm in Tate Grand Hall.

Friday: Parade at 6pm in Downtown Athens directly followed by a Carnival on Legion field till 11pm.

Saturday: Student Organization Winners and Homecoming Royalty announced at the Homecoming Game against Vanderbilt at 12pm.

Happy Homecoming!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
