The University of Michigan is spectacular because of the professors, academics, diversity, athletics, and resources, but what is so unique about the University is the spirit. The everlasting drive of each and every member of the community. And although members may physically detach from Ann Arbor, their continuity of support never fails to shout "Go Blue."

Traditions are repetitive memories that shape lives and make up a culture. At the heart of Michigan's culture is one experience. This experience brings people together through the cultivation of creativity and invention that comes from our thoughts. This experience creates a story. A story of the night you painted the rock, the historic Canadian Limestone in which honors George Washington. This rock is painted with different values for different clubs with different people but all for one school. Your parents, your siblings, your grandparents, your children, their children have and will help build the "Rock of Ages."

Similar to Stacee Jaxx (up and coming rock n' roll musician in the Broadway musical "Rock of Ages") who spreads his passion in order to save his hometown strip, the University of Michigan students spread their passion to keep the spirit alive.

You really "Can't fight the feeling" at the Michigan Football games when the not-so-mainstreamed fans are madly in love with their maize and blue spirit-wear. Students are standing, arm to arm, and connecting with one another. The upbeat, fashionable, hard-working band get everyone on their feet with their boogie-beginning music.

Before beginning my freshman year at the university, "I wanted to know what love is". It has been almost 3 months and I finally have the answer. Love is happiness. As I come back from my class where my biology professor has just connected to me and made me laugh in a lecture hall of 200 people with the picture of his family at his son's band performance at the high school football game, I feel the heat (not literally although I wish) of energy, determination, and passion from each person who walks by me.

The 6 feet tall dude in shorts in 40-degree weather may have come from Las Angeles while I came from Chicago, but we are both here because we have different ideas that we want to share and spread word of through the eyes of other students. The rock is like popular social media sites, it spreads the idea of spirit and passion fast.

Remember that moment you and your best friend spent hours and hours singing Hail to the Victors and having the time of your life. From that moment Hail to the Victors became your favorite song because there is a story behind it that you can relate to. Similarly, there is a story behind every painting. A story the rock is waiting for you to create and invent because here at Michigan we "Don't stop believin'."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
