Well, hey there, web surfer; you might be getting bored. But are you bored enough to read this article and consider taking part in these unusual activities? Let's see! I know that my friends and I could use some new ideas for hanging out. What should we do?
1. Meme RecreationIn this context, the word "recreation" doesn't just mean "fun." It also means "the act of recreating something." How does one recreate a meme? Save some of your favorite memes and go explore an area with your camera poised. For instance, you can find two dogs, one big and one "smol," and make your own version of the well-loved pupper meme. Compile an entire personal collection of reworked memes. You know, meme-making isn't just about sitting around and browsing the Internet. It's about interacting with real life, too.
2. Fingerpainting
Maybe your fingerprinting won't turn out like Iris Scott's, but who knows? Go outdoors, because fingerprinting is messy. Lay out your materials and have a creativity fest with friends. You'll be surprised: this method of painting affords great control over texture, color, and movement.
3. Book Cover Judgment
This game adds a fun challenge to your average artsy bookstore adventure. From personal experience, I can say that it makes book-browsing into more of a cute date. Walk the aisles with somebody else and challenge them to choose a book for you... entirely based upon the cover of the book. Upon making their choice, they'll pick up the lucky book and read its back cover description aloud to you. Then you get to judge whether it sounds like a good book (a book you would read). Your friend, vying for your approval by taking risks, gets 3 strikes. They also get 1 point whenever a book sounds good. When the game is over, you can sit and read the beginnings of the books that achieved points, or you can switch and do the challenge with the other person.
4. Surprise Sharing
The idea of randomly leaving things at friends' houses has been on my mind for some time. You can really leave anything you want. You can leave spontaneous presents on their doorstep. You can write spooky letters and put them in their mailbox. You can pack an opaque shampoo bottle full of glitter and confetti and visit your friend but sneak away at some point to put the tube in your friend's bathtub. You can be nice and thoughtful, or you can be mean and messy. This world is full of opportunity.
Hopefully these ideas inspired you! Either you'll say, "Wow, I really want to fingerpaint with my friends now," or you'll say, "Wow, I certainly was not bored enough for this article. Maybe one day, when I'm waaaay more bored, I'll come back and read it again." Either way, have fun!
