I know you hear the whispers all of the time. People love to talk about your size and how you'll never make it anywhere. They think you're not tall enough or heavy enough, but they never measured your heart.
With being just under 5 feet tall and weighing in just over 100 pounds in my playing days, I heard all the doubters before I stepped on the field. But what those people didn't know was that I trained at least three hours a day. Those people didn't know how badly I wanted to win. Those people didn't see the hours I spent perfecting my craft. Those people didn't know my story. Those people didn't know that their doubts only made me better. When stepped on to that field I made my presence know. I turned every single doubter into a believer.
So to every "undersized" athlete, I want you to remember that they can't measure your heart. Yes, being shorter or lighter is a disadvantage but that just means you have to work harder than everyone else. You can't make excuses. You need to believe in yourself and not let the whispers get into your head. You need to let the doubters fuel you.
If you believe in yourself, nothing can stop you. You can take anything as far as you want to. So be the hardest working person in the room. Show up to practice early and stay late. Study your ass off. Have dreams that people say are crazy and show them just how crazy you are. Accomplish your dreams and then set new ones. Go where people say you could never go. Set the bar. Be an inspiration to the kids coming after you. I promise you will never regret giving everything to the game you love. Your hard work will pay off. They will remember your name.
